ThinkQuest Library provides innovative learning resources for students of all ages on a wide range of educational topics. Featuring over 5,500 websites, the library is created by students from around the world as part of a competition.

edHelper.com offers themed lesson plans, customized worksheet production, and much more for a yearly fee ($20-40)
Core Knowledge Lesson Plans is part of the (large) site to support the Core Knowledge Curriculum of E. D. Hirsch for grades K-8. It is arranged by grade level - you can view an outline of the year's topics by subject. Each topic has an associated PDF file with the lesson plan in a standard format. One of the best features is the bibliography that lists relevant books and web sites. This could save you a lot of time in planning unit studies.
Discovery School is part of the Discovery Channel and offers lesson plans for all ages, tools for creating worksheets, puzzles, and quizzes, a curriculum center (science) with ideas for activities and projects along with correlated videos, CDs, and books from Discovery. Homework Helper is part of Discovery School and is a list of links by subject area.
Suite 101 contains articles and mini-courses on a huge variety of topics from education to gardening, history to outdoor adventure.
Mr. Donn's Pages offers free lesson plans and activities on topics generally related to social studies- generally aimed at middle grades, but can be adjusted up or down. Provides links to many more lesson plan sites.
For the kids
Kids Konnect – Safe Gateway for Kids is a set of child-safe links of subjects of interest to kids, developed and maintained by educators.
Kids Click! was created by a group of librarians at the Ramapo Catskill Library System, as a logical step in addressing concerns about the role of public libraries in guiding their young users to valuable and age appropriate web sites.
KinderSite every link and site that the Kindersite uses has been checked as conforming to Department of Education guidelines for safe sites for children. Aimed at the younger student there are games, songs, and stories with audio and varying amounts of reading skill required. Registration allows you to customize a list of favorites. Could buy you some time while working with older students.
Brain POP has some free content, the rest is available by subscription -- online videos explain a wide variety of topics from how cars work to Mars to parts of speech and there are quizzes to review content.
