Concurrent Enrollment at Community College

Once a student turns 16 he or she is eligible to enroll at a North Carolina community college and can receive college credit for successfully completed courses. It is up to you to decide if the same course also counts toward high school graduation. Transferabilty of the credit varies by college, but at a minimum concurrent enrollment provides valuable classroom experience, documents a level of achievement from an accredited source, and may allow the student to place at a higher level at the university program of their choice. Many internet-based courses and other distance learning courses are also available.
